The Newness!

Well if you haven’t noticed or checked it out yet, I did a bit of upgrading to the overall look and the back-end code of the site. I also did a change to the drop-page of www.ericdies.com. Hopefully you’ll like the changes. For those of you that checked out the site yesterday evening, yes, that’s why stuff went crazy for a few minutes, haha. Everything’s in order now though and ready to once again be browsed. If you have any feedback, shoot me an email as usual or tweet me. Also, if you’re new to the site, make sure to snag that RSS feed to stay updated on all future posts! Thanks for all your support! (Read on…)

Amazing [ Free! ] Logo Book

While browsing around on Scott Hansen’s ISO50, I stumbled upon an article discussing an out of print book that compiled a large list of logos that were used in the mid-70s that was discovered by Eric Carl. Eric, who did not create this book, noticed that the book was open domain. He then resorted to uploading every scanned page of the book onto his Flickr. If you really like these graphics, he also has them up for download in one ZIP file at his blog in this article. Make sure to check it out. There’s some great stuff in there! Check out some of these stills from his Flickr. These are just a few of the many pages of inspiration that illustrate some awesome, retro logos. (Read on…)

Power Of One

New artwork and motion art! This one was actually designed for my Church’s Easter Illustrated Sermon entitled, “Power Of One.” There are quite a few symbols in the piece. I tried to really put some deep thought and detail into this one. I love when artwork communicates a certain point but isn’t as revealing or straightforward. I enjoy a bit of mystery. The personal challenge was to develop a unique piece that communicated the emotion of the crucifixion without getting “Christianese.”

If you’ll notice in the motion piece, there is a slight variation in the artwork. I can’t make every call at work! But I can post what I want to post here! There’s only love though! :) (Read on…)

Retro This Yo.

A little retro. Threw this together after giving some advice on a similar design. I was asked how to imitate a technique, so I did. I decided to take artistic liberties though and spice it up a bit. No symbols. No hidden meaning. Just retro. Hope you like it. (Read on…)
