Get Inspired

Well it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted. That’s going to change this year. Life’s been busy, but it’s time to get some content rolling out. I possibly may even work on a new design layout for the blog. We’ll see how things go.

Other than that, this is the brand new artwork for the second series of the year at Faith Family Church called, “Inspire.” Definitely a minimalistic, modern style, but I kinda’ dig that. I threw the art in After Effects as well and made the 30 second television spot that airs locally.

Anyways, feel free to check out the art/spot. If you click on the smaller image, it’ll open an even larger version in a lightbox. (Read on…)

Armani Style Ad

This past Saturday I was inspired to piece together a Comp Magazine Ad. I spent the majority of the day working on it off and on. I’m particularly a fan of pin striped suits, so I decided to run with the male subject photo that I found on SXC. I ended up choosing Armani as the fictional client out of pure randomness after glancing at a bottle of my cologne.

I had been wanting to give the abstract style a try and this is the result. I’m not a big fan of the designs that get too busy, so I developed my elements and determined the placement based on focal points of the main subject. For example, his downcast eyes determined my placement of the logo and shining sun/star to create the illusion that he is “gazing” at those elements. (Read on…)

Power Of One

New artwork and motion art! This one was actually designed for my Church’s Easter Illustrated Sermon entitled, “Power Of One.” There are quite a few symbols in the piece. I tried to really put some deep thought and detail into this one. I love when artwork communicates a certain point but isn’t as revealing or straightforward. I enjoy a bit of mystery. The personal challenge was to develop a unique piece that communicated the emotion of the crucifixion without getting “Christianese.”

If you’ll notice in the motion piece, there is a slight variation in the artwork. I can’t make every call at work! But I can post what I want to post here! There’s only love though! :) (Read on…)

Retro This Yo.

A little retro. Threw this together after giving some advice on a similar design. I was asked how to imitate a technique, so I did. I decided to take artistic liberties though and spice it up a bit. No symbols. No hidden meaning. Just retro. Hope you like it. (Read on…)

Influence

I started working on this a while back and never quite finished it, so finally I took the time to sit down and complete the artwork. I originally wanted to do some sort of T-Shirt rendition of the design, so I went ahead and made a little mockup.

Apart from that, it now serves as my current desktop. The purpose of the piece is to symbolize the causes and effects of the influences around us-hence the title. Hope you all like it. Here are the pics:
