I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but Starbucks has been putting out some pretty insightful and inspiring quotes on the sides of their coffee cups. This morning I was on my way to work when I suddenly decided to grab a quick cup of joe. After arriving at work, I began to warm my cozy office chair and take the delightful first sip of my sweet morning pick-me-up. Just as the cup was on its way to rest on my lips I noticed an interesting quote that caught my eye. It was quoted from a woman named Anne Morriss. It reads,
“The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating - in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life.”
Pretty insightful if you ask me. There have been so many times in life where this has become obvious to me, but never have I seen it laid out with such clarity. This has relevance on multiple levels. Which is why I felt it so important to share.
- The design of their cups is pretty neat.
- It's very simplistic and clean.

Aye! A “quote that caught me eye”!
Ye be a pirate!
Alas, I must board me vessel.
