If you’ll notice in the motion piece, there is a slight variation in the artwork. I can’t make every call at work! But I can post what I want to post here! There’s only love though!
The only difference between the two are composited photo elements on the “1″ in the motion piece. I took them out for the art I’m posting here because I felt it made the piece a tad too busy and slightly over communicative.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to match the lighting and shadows of each element as if all are being illuminated from shared light sources. I really wanted there to be a gritty texture to everything overall. This helps express the reality of experiencing a crucifixion. I’m a sort of realist at times as well, so definitely had to show things as they would have been, but don’t get me wrong. I wanted it to look cool too! Hence the swirly bits and bold, textured-rich typography! I also did all the sound design. The goal was to make it feel almost like a movie title bump.
Oh, and make sure to Appreciate it on the Behance Network! Thanks.

- I really liked the texture and lighting in this one. I thought the blood was still tasteful (and symbolic, of course) as well.

Love the Artwork! I definitely see photo realism as more of your style. It can communicate emotion so much more on a personal level when the design and color scheme mesh to true colors or elements that are present in real life. I think my favorite part is the fact you made the “one” in an element of a spear… such vivid symbolism. The After Effects slate is very well done. Great selection of low, bass sound effects and music. It has a strong presence in presentation, something that is definitely symbolic yet again. Good job Eric!
